Orthognathic Surgery
Orthognathic Surgery

Made famous by reality shows in Korea where ordinary women are transformed into unrecognizable Korean pop idol versions of themselves, orthognathic surgery entails rearrangement of the jaw and the maxilla to attain the desired facial features or occlusion. The skeletal framework is set to the desired facial profile and occlusion and then secured with small titanium plates and screws. This procedure also corrects dental occlusion problems that cannot be solved by orthodontic work alone. Asymmetry of the facial skeleton can also be solved using this procedure. Average hospital stay is 3 days.
